Bibb County deputy arrested after striking handcuffed inmate

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — A Bibb County deputy was arrested on a simple battery charge after an internal investigation found he struck a handcuffed inmate, according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputy Frank Flucas, who was assigned to the Corrections Division at the time of the incident, was charged following an internal affairs and criminal investigation.

Authorities said the incident occurred March 26, 2026, inside the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center, where Flucas was found to have struck an inmate in the face while the inmate was handcuffed.

Flucas was terminated April 24, 2026, by Chief Deputy Chris Patterson at the direction of Sheriff David Davis.

Officials said Flucas later turned himself in at the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center, where he was booked on the simple battery charge. He has since been released on bond.

Bibb County Sheriff David Davis released the following statement:

“Law enforcement officers are entrusted with significant authority, and with that authority comes an equally significant responsibility to act within the law and the standards of the sheriff’s office. When those standards are violated, we have a duty to act decisively and transparently. These investigations reflect our commitment serve our community with accountability and professionalism, and to maintain the rule of law.”
