Bibb deputies: Suspect arrested in Bloomfield Park shooting
Arrest made in Bloomfield Park shooting during youth ball game

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Bibb County deputies made an arrest Wednesday in connection with a shooting at Bloomfield Park earlier this week that left one person injured.
According to a Bibb County Sheriff’s Office news release, the shooting was called in just after 6 p.m. on Monday.
Witnesses told deputies a verbal altercation escalated between two males during a youth ball game. “Moments later, one of the men began firing shots towards the other male where children were present,” the release stated.
An adult male, who was not the suspect’s intended target, was grazed in the shoulder area. His injuries were not life threatening.
After an investigation, deputies identified 35-year-old Marquize Hogan of Macon as the suspect and secured warrants for his arrest.
U.S. Marshals took him into custody just after 3 p.m. on Wednesday. He’s charged with 30 counts of aggravated assault and is being held without bond.
‘Still in disbelief’
A post on Bloomfield Youth Baseball’s Facebook page on Tuesday called the shooting “absurd.”
“Still in disbelief,” the post stated. “We fought so hard for our ‘field of dreams” and for someone to actually Shoot at a child’s game is absurd. Not Caring whether those bullets could’ve killed someone, and innocent child, parent, coach, etc.”
Deputies say Hogan’s booking photo is not yet available.
