Bibb County celebrates ‘Read For The Record’

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Volunteers and kids read together Thursday to celebrate “Read for the Record.”

Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary was one of the schools hosting it.

The Junior League of Macon and the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office sent volunteers to read “The Bear Ate Your Sandwich.”

The event was a huge success.

“It’s something we look forward to every year,” said Principal Dr. Shandra Yarbrough. “Just a wonderful opportunity again to have volunteers in the building and it goes on throughout the United States.”

Dr. Yarbrough says she really enjoyed seeing the community helping the kids.
