Bibb Co. Sheriff’s Office takes gifts to holiday shop inside children’s hospital
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office played the role of Santa Claus Monday, taking gifts and toys to the Beverly Knight Olson Children’s Hospital, Navicent Health.
The gifts are for the hospital’s Holly Jolly Shoppe, which gives patient’s families a place to shop during the holiday season.
“It hit me from the heart, I meat it really touched my heart,” Walter Timely, the shop’s founder said. “I love doing this.”
All of the gifts and toys inside the shop are free for the sick and injured children inside the hospital.
“What a better way to save them the stress than to have a in-hospital toy store that they can come shop for free for their children and their siblings,” Hailey Vann, Development Officer for Navicent Health Foundation said. “So it’s an easy way for them to celebrate Christmas here at the hospital.”
Lt. Randy Gonzales with the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office says this is the third year the sheriff’s office has taken toys to the hospital.
“Brings us joy to know that the kids here will have a Christmas and that’s what it’s all about, the kids,” Gonzalez said. “It’s so heart warming to be able to do this for the kids here at the hospital.”
Anyone is welcome to take donations and gifts to the Holly Jolly Shoppe throughout the holiday season.
