Bibb Co. Sheriff’s Office Detention Center inmate dies, no foul play suspected

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Bibb County Sheriff’s Investigators are looking into the death of an inmate that was serving time at the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center.

52-year-old Terry Keith Bedingfield was found unconscious on his bed inside the dormitory around 7 p.m. Friday.

Deputies and medical staff at the detention center performed CPR on Bedingfield until EMS arrived and took over.

Bedingfield went to the Medical Center, Navicent Health where he died.

He was pronounced deceased just after 7:30 p.m. by doctors.

Investigators don’t think there was foul play involved.

Bedingfield had a medical issue that he was being treated for.

The Bibb County Coroner’s Office will do an autopsy to determine the cause of death.

His next of kin has been notified.

Bedingfield was serving time at the detention center because of a DUI.
