Bibb Co. Parents Upset Over Teacher Hitting Daughter

The parents of a Westside High School student are upset over a teacher allegedly hitting their daughter. According to an incident report from the Bibb County Sheriff’s  Office, the student claims the teacher hit her on the back.

Frederica Evans says her daughter told her the incident happened in the middle of class. “The teacher said ‘You stole my netbook and hit her on the back’,” says Evans.

The alleged altercation happened 3 months ago, and according to Frederica Evans,  no one has contacted her from the school system, which prompter her and her husband to file a report with the sheriff’s office.

Chief Deputy David Davis did confirm the teacher did come into physical contact with the student.

According to Bibb County Schools spokesman Chris Floore, Westside High School Principal Laura Perkins did not find enough evidence to continue the investigation to pass it  on to Human Resources.

Wiley Evans believes that is a double standard. “If it had been my daughter striking the teacher then there would have been no concern about her being a good student or anything else. She would have probably been suspended,” says Evans.

These parents say all they want is for the teacher to be put on administrative leave.
