UPDATE: Macon man arrested after armed robberies and standoff
Deputies say Dylan Sampson Smith is connected to crimes at Family Dollar, Melody’s Magic Mart and Lucky’s Food Mart.

UPDATE: The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man Monday after two armed robberies on Rocky Creek Road and a standoff at a Village Green Lane home.
According to a news release, the calls came in minutes apart, beginning at 9:17 a.m. with a robbery at Family Dollar on Rocky Creek Road, where a man wearing brown coveralls and a ski mask entered the store with a gun, demanded money and ran off with cash. A second call at 9:28 a.m. reported an attempted armed robbery at Melody’s Magic Mart nearby, where a suspect matching the same description demanded money before running away without cash.
Deputies said they identified a person of interest at a home in the 2700 block of Village Green Lane. They say an armed man was inside along with two adults and children, and he refused deputies’ commands to come out. The sheriff’s office says the Hostage Negotiations Team and SWAT responded, and the adults and children exited safely before the armed man surrendered as SWAT approached.
The suspect, identified as 20-year-old Dylan Sampson Smith, was taken into custody. Deputies said he is linked to the Family Dollar robbery, the attempted robbery at Melody’s Magic Mart and the armed robbery Sunday at Lucky’s Food Mart.
Smith had an active Superior Court probation violation and was taken to the Bibb County Jail. He is charged with two counts of aggravated assault and two counts of armed robbery and is being held without bond.
ORIGINAL STORY: MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT-DT) – The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a commercial armed robbery after a suspect held up the Lucky Food Mart on Main Street Sunday evening. Deputies say the call came in around 6:49 p.m.
According to investigators, a man entered the store armed with a gun and demanded cash. He ran from the business with an undisclosed amount of money, heading off on foot in an unknown direction. No injuries were reported during the robbery.
Deputies describe the suspect as a Black male wearing brown coveralls and a ski mask. An image from the store’s surveillance system has been released as part of the investigation.
