Beyond Pink Ribbons hosting breast cancer support walk in Wrightsville

“This isn’t just about awareness,” Fallin said. “It’s about showing up for people when they need it most.”

WRIGHTSVILLE, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — A Wrightsville cancer survivor is turning her personal experience with breast cancer into community support through a new walk aimed at helping people currently undergoing treatment.

Tammy Fallin, founder and executive director of Beyond Pink Ribbons, will host the first Beyond Pink Ribbons Walk/Run on Saturday, May 30, at Johnson County High School in Wrightsville.

Fallin says the event was created to support people facing the financial and emotional challenges that often come with breast cancer treatment. Funds raised through the nonprofit will help individuals in active treatment pay for expenses such as utilities, groceries, medications and other essential needs.

“This isn’t just about awareness,” Fallin said. “It’s about showing up for people when they need it most.”

The event will take place from 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at 150 Herschel Walker Drive in Wrightsville. Registration and shirt and bib pickup begin at 7 a.m., with the walk starting at 8 a.m.

Registration costs $30 and remains open through the morning of the event. Fallin said participants who register by May 8 will receive a free event shirt, while those who register after that date are not guaranteed a shirt.

The event will include on-site parking, volunteers to assist participants and a dedicated survivor tent honoring people impacted by breast cancer. Survivors are invited to gather in the space for support, connection and recognition, according to organizers.

The fundraiser has a donation goal of $5,000.
