Beam Signing for Mercer Science Building
MACON, Georgia (41 NBC/WMGT) – Construction for Mercer University’s new science building is still underway, but the university wants the community to be involved.
The university held a beam signing ceremony this morning on the construction site. Members of the university were able to sign the beam as marking a milestone in the construction.
Mercer believes that the Spearman C. Godsey Science Center will be just what the campus needs.
“In addition to classrooms and all of the academic support, laboratories. We’re going to have 36 research labs where students will work with faculty doing things outside of classwork,” said Mercer University Vice-President for Administration and finance, Jim Netherton.
The building is expected to be complete by December 2017.
