Barys Notches Bobcat Athlete of The Week Honor

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. (GCSU RELEASE) – Sophomore midfielder Ally Barys (Ladera Ranch, Calif.) of the Georgia College women’s soccer team was named Bobcat Athlete of The Week for her game-clinching goal against No. 14 Armstrong Atlantic State University.

Barys’ goal was her third of the season and the biggest of the year for the Bobcats. Abby Dalton (Macon, Ga.) ran down a ball in the right corner, crossing it through the box. The cross was then broken up and popped loose to Barys on the left side. She controlled the ball with one touch and then fired the game winner. The goal gave Georgia College their second win in school history over Armstrong.

The sophomore is currently tied for second on the team with three goals on the season and six points for the Bobcats. Barys also has 21 shots for the season with eight being on target. This marks her second career Bobcat Athlete of The Week honor, with her first coming during her freshman campaign.

The Georgia College Soccer team is back in action Saturday, Oct. 26 at 3 p.m. against Peach Belt Conference foe the University of Montevallo at Bobcat Field. Saturday will also be a special day for the Bobcats as the soccer team will host Senior Day, as well as “Kick for the Cure” day.
