Baldwin High School welcomes new head football coach Kevin Patterson
Kevin Patterson was appointed as Baldwin High's new head coach on Tuesday.

MILLEDGEVILLE, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Baldwin County Board of Education has appointed Kevin Patterson as the new head football coach for Baldwin High School.
Patterson is a 2004 graduate of Camden County High School in Kingsland, where he helped lead the team to an undefeated season and a 5A State Championship during his senior year.
The district says Patterson went on to be a four-year defensive back starter at Wake Forest from 2004-2008, helping the Demon Deacons to the 2006 ACC championship and three consecutive bowl games. At Wake Forest, he recorded more than 180 tackles, had eight interceptions and scored three defensive touchdowns.
After college, Patterson briefly played for the Amarillo Venom in the Indoor Football League, where he was selected to the All-IFL team. He returned to Wake Forest University in 2012 to start his coaching career as a graduate assistant and later earned a Master’s of Arts in Liberal Studies in 2015.
Patterson’s coaching career includes stops as an assistant at Tucker High School in Georgia; TL Hanna in Anderson, South Carolina; McEachern High School in Georgia, and most recently at Jones County High School, where he served as assistant head football coach, head strength coach and wide receivers coach in 2023.
“Coach Patterson brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to Baldwin,” principal Jason Flanders said. “We are excited to welcome Coach Patterson to Braves Nation!”
Patterson replaces Jesse Hicks, who was not retained as the Braves’ head coach following the 2023 season. Hicks was hired last month to be the new head coach at East Laurens High School.
Baldwin’s athletics department will host a meet and greet on Wednesday, January 17. According to Director of Athletics Dexter Ricks, Patterson will meet with the parents of current and prospective football players at 6 p.m. and will meet with the community at 6:30. The event is happening in the Baldwin’s small theater.
