GSP: 16-year-old flown to Macon trauma center after Highway 49 crash
GSP says a commercial mail truck struck the teen’s pickup as he turned onto GA 49.

BALDWIN COUNTY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A 16-year-old driver was seriously hurt after his pickup overturned during a crash on Georgia Highway 49 on Tuesday night.
According to Georgia State Patrol, the responding trooper reported a box-style mail truck was traveling east on GA 49 when the teen, driving an older Ford F-150, attempted to turn left from Covey Road onto GA 49 west. Investigators said the pickup entered the roadway, and the commercial mail vehicle hit the truck, causing it to overturn.
According to GSP, the 16-year-old driver was trapped in the vehicle and later flown to a trauma center in Macon with serious injuries. No update has been provided on his condition.
The driver of the mail truck was taken to the hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening.
