Baldwin schools propose rollback rate for third straight year
The school board will hold a public meeting and final vote at 5:30 p.m. September 3 in Milledgeville.

MILLEDGEVILLE, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — The Baldwin County School District is proposing to keep its property tax rate at 12.070 mills in 2026 by adopting the rollback rate for a third straight year.
According to a news release, the proposed rate is unchanged from 2025. The district says it would remain the second-lowest millage rate among seven neighboring school districts in Middle Georgia.
Baldwin County Schools reduced its rate from 14.580 mills in 2023 to 12.400 mills in 2024. The rate dropped to 12.070 mills in 2025.
“I am very appreciative that the direction of our Board remains focused on balancing quality educational opportunities with fiscal responsibility,” Superintendent Kristina Brooks said.
Board Chair Gloria Wicker said the district can continue supporting students while providing property tax relief.
“Ranking second-lowest in millage rates across our seven-county region while adopting the roll-back rate for three straight years proves that we can protect our taxpayers while continuing to invest in our students,” Wicker said.
The school board is scheduled to hold a public meeting and final vote at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 3 at the Board of Education Building, located at 110 N. ABC Street in Milledgeville.
The district says the public will be able to review the current tax digest and five-year levy history before the vote.
