MILLEDGEVILLE, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT)- Two law enforcement officers have lost their jobs after separate Baldwin County booking reports listed charges involving law enforcement-captured license plate data.

The cases involve Kevin Todd Steinmeyer and Daniel Edward Peavey. Both men were booked on Friday, October 9, according to Baldwin County booking reports.

The records list the same two charges for each man: violation of oath by public officer and illegal use or obtainment of law enforcement agency-captured license plate data.

The booking reports do not mention Flock by name. However, the Twiggs County Sheriff’s Office described Peavey’s charges as related to an incident involving the Flock camera system while he was employed by the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office.

Baldwin lieutenant fired before booking

According to the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office, Steinmeyer was the agency’s training officer and held the rank of lieutenant.

The sheriff’s office said Steinmeyer was terminated on Thursday, October 8. The next day, he surrendered himself to the jail to be booked.

His booking report lists his last known employer as Baldwin County.

The report lists the offense date as June 30, 2026. It shows Steinmeyer was arrested at 9:20 a.m. on October 9.

He bonded out a little more than an hour later, at 10:31 a.m., on a $2,000 property bond, according to the report.

Twiggs deputy also terminated

Peavey was working for the Twiggs County Sheriff’s Office when he was charged by the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office, according to the Twiggs County chief deputy.

Twiggs County said Peavey was charged for an incident involving Flock that took place while he was employed by the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office.

Because of the charges, the Twiggs County Sheriff’s Office said Peavey was immediately terminated.

The Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office confirmed Peavey had been a deputy sheriff with Baldwin County.

Peavey’s booking report lists his last known employer as Twiggs County.

The report lists the offense date as February 28, 2025. It shows Peavey was arrested at 9:45 a.m. on October 9.

He bonded out at 10:26 a.m. on a $2,000 property bond, according to the report.

What the records do and do not say

The booking reports list the charges, dates, statutes, case numbers and bond information.

They do not include additional details about what allegedly happened, how the license plate data was used, who accessed it or why.

The cases remain pending. The booking reports list charges only and do not establish guilt.
