Baldwin County investigating weekend murder, multiple shootings

MILLEDGEVILLE, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – One person is dead after a fight broke out at a birthday party in Milledgeville over the weekend.

Captain Brad King from the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office said it happened at a home on Ogden Terrace Sunday morning around midnight.

Deputies were initially called about a fight, but the fight moved to the street and gun fire was heard. Two people were hit. Both were taken to the hospital.

Shamarcus Simmons, 23, was hit in the leg. King said he has been released from the hospital.

Kelvin Stanton, 27, was shot in the chest multiple times. He was pronounced dead at Oconee Regional Medical Center around 3 a.m., according to King.

The Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office hasn’t made any arrests in this case at this time. King said they are actively investigating the case, but they don’t have any suspects right now.

This was one of three shootings that happened over the weekend. No one was hurt in the other two.

King said a man reported hearing gunshots on Lake Drive around 9 p.m. Friday night. Investigators found a bullet in the man’s car. Investigators don’t have any suspects at this time. No one was injured.

The third shooting happened while deputies were at the Ogden Terrace shooting. King said someone reported hearing gun shots at a home on Horne Avenue around 1: 50 a.m. Sunday morning. Multiple bullets hit the house and car. People were inside the home, but no one was hurt. Investigators are on scene gathering evidence.
