Woman, dog killed in Baldwin County house fire

Firefighters say a 63-year-old woman and a dog were found dead inside the home.

BALDWIN COUNTY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — A woman and a dog died in a house fire Tuesday in Baldwin County, according to Baldwin County Fire Rescue.

In a social media post, the agency said crews responded to a residential fire in the 100 block of Old Colony Farm Road.

Firefighters arrived to find heavy fire conditions at a single-story home, according to the post. Bystanders told crews someone was still inside the home, which led firefighters to begin an interior fire attack and search operation.

According to the post, firefighters found a 63-year-old woman inside the laundry room of the home who died from injuries sustained in the fire. A dog was also found dead.

The fire was later brought under control. The cause and origin of the fire remain under investigation.
