Baldwin County Chairman Kendrick Butts arrested, accused of threatening to kill daughter
Deputies say a Ring camera recording captured Butts acknowledging a threat against his daughter following an argument at their Milledgeville home.

MILLEDGEVILLE, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — Baldwin County Commission Chairman and District 2 Commissioner Kendrick Butts was arrested Wednesday after deputies say he threatened to kill his daughter during an argument at their home.
According to a Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office incident report, Butts was arrested and charged with felony terroristic threats under Georgia’s family violence statute.
The investigation began after Butts’ 27-year-old daughter told deputies her father threatened her life during a verbal argument Tuesday at a home on Allen Memorial Drive in Milledgeville.
The daughter told investigators she called 911 during the argument, but deputies took no action because she had left the home before they arrived.
The following morning, the daughter reported hearing Butts talking to his brother on the phone and acknowledging the threat he made the previous night.
According to the incident report, the conversation was captured by a Ring camera inside the home, and the daughter provided the recording to investigators.
A responding deputy wrote that Butts could be heard acknowledging that he threatened to kill his daughter during the earlier argument.
The report says the daughter initially wanted to pursue charges against her father but later changed her mind.
Investigators also reported that the daughter, who had lived at the home for at least 30 days, voluntarily removed her belongings and said she would not return.
At Butts’ request, deputies served his daughter with a trespass notice barring her from the home.
The deputy determined Butts was the primary aggressor in a family violence incident because the two were related and lived in the same home.
A warrant was obtained for felony terroristic threats, and Butts was taken into custody.
He was later booked into the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office, according to the report.
