Man sentenced to 30 years after attempted rape conviction in Baldwin County
Prosecutors say the conviction stems from a March 2025 incident during a home inspection.

MILLEDGEVILLE, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — A 50-year-old man was sentenced to 30 years in prison in Baldwin County Superior Court after a judge convicted him of criminal attempt to commit rape.
According to a news release from the Ocmulgee Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office, Jimmy Terrell Scott received the sentence Wednesday in Superior Court of Baldwin County. The conviction stems from an incident on March 25, 2025.
According to the release, Scott’s housing caseworker came to his home that day to conduct an inspection. The district attorney’s office said both the victim and Scott reported that Scott made up a reason to get the victim into his bedroom, shut the door, threw her onto the bed and attempted to rape her.
The district attorney’s office said the victim activated her car alarm, which stopped the assault and allowed her to escape.
Prosecutors say Scott is a recidivist with prior convictions that include a 1994 conviction for aggravated assault with intent to rape and a 2004 conviction for aggravated assault with intent to rape and false imprisonment. The district attorney’s office said Scott had been out of prison for less than a year at the time of the attack.
“Our hope is that Mr. Scott spends the rest of his natural life behind bars,” the district attorney’s office said in the release.
