MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A warm front passing through overnight will keep temperatures above freezing and an incoming cold front could spur on showers Thursday morning.

It’s been a sunny day around Middle Georgia but more high clouds will continue to fill in through the sunset hours, giving way to mostly cloudy skies tonight. Low temperatures will be around midnight for a change thanks to an incoming warm front. These will be around the 40 degree mark across Middle Georgia. Temperatures by tomorrow morning, however, will likely be in the mid to upper 40s, or 20+ degrees warmer than Wednesday morning. A shower or two will also be possible ahead of the sunrise as the cold front approaches from the northwest. Wind will be out of the southwest at 10-15 mph, gusting to around 20 mph.

It will be a cloudy start to Thursday with a couple of stray showers remaining possible through the morning and into lunchtime. Clouds should start to break up in the afternoon, but for counties further south in the region that likely wont happen until sunset or shortly thereafter. It will be one of the warmer days of the week with highs expected to reach the upper 50s and lower 60s. If clouds break earlier, temperatures will climb a bit higher. Wind will be out of the northwest at about 5-15 mph most of the afternoon, however, gusting to 20+ mph.

Overnight expect mostly clear skies with lows that again fall below freezing. The northern half of the region will likely see lows around 25 degrees, so dripping faucets may be necessary for the second time this week. Wind will be from the north-northwest at 5-10 mph and gusting to about 15 mph.
