Attempted armed robbery in West Macon

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Bibb County Sheriff’s Department is investigating an attempted armed robbery that occurred at the Jumbo Food store located on Napier Avenue.

According to a news release, around 4:30am Wednesday, two armed suspects made an attempt to rob the store but were unable to reach the clerk, who was protected by a security barrier of bulletproof glass and a metal door.

After realizing they would not be able to reach the cash register, the suspects fled the store and went towards Ayers Road. No money was taken, and no one was injured.

The two suspects were both black males, each one approximately 5’6″-5’9″ in height, weighing 150-170 lbs., and were believed to be around 18-20 years old. They wore T-shirts to cover their faces, and one suspect was armed with a camouflaged shotgun while the other brandished a revolver. Reports indicate there was a third suspect as well, but he didn’t enter the store and no description of him was available.
