Atrium Health Navicent lifts masking and visitor restrictions at all locations
Starting at 7 a.m. Thursday, March 27, Atrium Health Navicent will lift all temporary masking and visitor restrictions at its facilities following a steady decline in respiratory illness cases, according to a news release from the health system.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Starting at 7 a.m. Thursday, March 27, Atrium Health Navicent will lift all temporary masking and visitor restrictions at its facilities following a steady decline in respiratory illness cases, according to a news release from the health system.
Temporary restrictions had been in place since January.
The changes mean children 12 and under will once again be allowed to visit area hospitals, and masks will no longer be required for most patients and visitors. Masks will remain optional and available upon request.
However, exceptions still apply. Atrium Health Navicent says those with respiratory symptoms should not visit, and masks are still required for anyone in high-risk patient areas when signs indicate, and for symptomatic patients when outside their room.
“After seeing high rates of flu and RSV cases this winter, we have seen a sustained and progressive decline in respiratory viral infections in the past several weeks,” said Dr. Patrice Walker, chief medical officer for Atrium Health Navicent.
“While the number of cases have decreased, we must remain vigilant and ready to respond to any potential changes,” Walker said. “Atrium Health Navicent remains committed to providing safe, high-quality care to all patients, and this decision is a testament to our collective efforts in combating infectious diseases.”
Health care leaders continue to recommend frequent handwashing, using hand sanitizer, and staying home if you feel sick. Atrium Health Navicent also encourages the public to stay up to date on all recommended vaccines.
