Assistant manager arrested for stealing from Milledgeville Sears

MILLEDGEVILLE, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – An assistant manager at a Sears store in Milledgeville was arrested for stealing.

According to the Milledgeville Police Department, Joe Smallwood is accused of stealing thousands of dollars worth of items.

Authorities say starting in January, some items were stolen from the trucks and scratched off the inventory list, showing the items were never received.

Detectives found several items belonging to Sears in Smallwood’s home, ranging from lawn mowers to power tools.

Major Reggie Hill says Smallwood is charged with theft by taking and giving false statements. Both are felony charges.
