UPDATE: Suspect arrested in deadly Rocky Creek Road shooting in Macon

UPDATE: The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a suspect in connection with the deadly shooting on Rocky Creek Road.

Investigators with the Violent Crime Unit identified 38-year-old Dequais Threatt of Macon as a person of interest in the case. Threatt was taken into custody in McDonough without incident by the McDonough Police Department, with assistance from the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office. The U.S. Marshals Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force transported him to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division for further questioning.

Following the investigation, Threatt was charged with murder and aggravated assault in connection with the death of 45-year-old Montaego Maxwell Sr. He was booked into the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center and is being held without bond.


UPDATE: The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office says the man was taken to the hospital in critical condition before being pronounced dead there.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A 45-year-old man is dead after being shot Wednesday on Rocky Creek Road in Macon, according to Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones.

Jones identified the man as Montaego Maxwell Sr.

Jones says the shooting happened in the 1200 block of Rocky Creek Road just before 5:30 p.m. and that Maxwell was pronounced dead just before 6 p.m.

Jones said his family had been notified.
