Army Reserve Center named in honor of Specialist Daniel E. Gomez

WARNER ROBINS, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Army Reserve Center has been named in honor of a fallen decorated soldier, Specialist Daniel E. Gomez.

Gomez joined the army in 2005 and earned the Bronze Star Medal, the Purple Heart, the Army Commendation Medal and the Combat Medic Badge.

He was the Corps Commander of the Air Force Junior ROTC at Warner Robins High School. While there, he met Raianne Miller.

She believes Gomez’s character was why the center was named in his honor.

“He was wonderful, he’s a leader, he was kind, compassionate, intelligent, funny and very, very dedicated,” says Miller.

Gomez died along with three other soldiers on July 18, 2007 of injuries sustained from an explosive device and small arms fire attack while fighting in Iraq.
