Eight families received assistance from the American Red Cross after an apartment fire on Edwards Street Sunday night.

FORT VALLEY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Eight families received assistance from the American Red Cross after an apartment fire on Edwards Street Sunday night.
According to an American Red Cross news release, volunteers from the Central Midwest Georgia chapter responded to the fire to help coordinate emergency aid to those affected.
They assisted eight families for a total of 21 people, according to the release, providing comfort kids, direct client assistance and recovery planning to families.
