HIGH FALLS, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – An Alpharetta man is being held without bond at the Monroe County Jail after being charged with breaking into multiple vehicles Friday night.

According to an email from sheriff’s office spokesperson Anna Watkins, a call came in just after 9 p.m. Friday in reference to a person who had broken into a vehicle. The caller described the suspect as a male wearing a jacket and blue jeans.

Responding deputies were told the suspect, 19-year-old Dakarai Preston, had gone around the side of the building. He ran after being spotted, according to Watkins, but was “quickly apprehended.”

The investigation revealed Preston had broken into several other cars in the parking lot at High Falls Inn & Suites, Sheriff Brad Freeman later confirmed on a sheriff’s office social media post.

Preston is charged with entering auto, criminal attempt to commit a felony and obstruction of an officer.
