Accused Lake Tobesofkee shooting suspect pleads guilty, sentenced to 20 years
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Basil Ghali, 24, admitted he was responsible for shooting at two fishermen on the lake in March.
Ghali plead guilty to 3 counts of aggravated assault. Bibb County Superior Court Judge Howard Simms sentenced him to 20 years, 6 to be served in prison and 14 on probation.
Macon Judicial Circuit District Attorney David Cooke said he was pleased with the decision, “I wish it hadn’t happened at all, but now that we’re here, this is an appropriate sentence, and it lets people know that no matter who you are, you can be held accountable. Your life matters as a victim.”
