Motorcylist killed in crash at I-75/I-16 split

UPDATE (10:39 p.m.) – All lanes of I-16W are clear and open to motorists.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – All lanes of I-16W are blocked after a motorcyclist died in a crash near the I-75N/I-16 split in Macon around 8 p.m. Monday.

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office says 46-year-old James Richard Montgomery Jr. lost control of his motorcycle on the bridge above the Ocmulgee River as he approached the I-16W/I-75N split. His motorcycle struck a guard rail. Montgomery was pronounced dead at the scene.

Sgt. Clay Williams says all lanes of I-16W in the area of the crash will be closed for the next couple hours.
