Local artists giving MTA’s terminal station a face lift

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The downtown transit station is getting a little face lift with some faces familiar to Macon. A local artist is using everyday people as inspiration.

“It was a mural competition. They picked three artist out of a running to be able to do this mural, so I have the first section and the two other sections down here other artists will fill those as well,” said local artist Christopher Logan.

Logan also known by his artist name ‘Loganic’ was one of those three chosen by the Macon Arts Alliance to transform terminal station.

“At first, I was a bit at a loss about what to do when the project was brought about because the stipulations around the project were: nothing really historical and nothing political,” he said.

Logan then turned to the very people who walked past those once white walls everyday.

“I wanted to be able to at least allow the everyday people to be apart of this so what I did. I came down to the bus station, and I talked to random people who were here, asked them did they want to be incorporated in the mural somehow,” said Logan.

But he says those brush strokes are painting a deeper image of Macon’s people.

“Maconites you don’t really see them on any type of artwork here in the city you know whether it be statues, murals or buildings. So, I don’t really see so many so I said, ‘you know what let me try to provide that for the people and they can find some pride I riding the bus and knowing that they’re a part of this history.”

Logan says all three of the murals should be complete by December. He’s aiming to get his portion done by the end of November.
