20-year-old shot and killed by friend inside Dublin home
DUBLIN, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A college student is dead after being shot by his friend during an argument inside a Dublin home Sunday night.
Dublin Police Chief Tim Chatman says 20-year-old Jacquel Smith died from two gunshot wounds to the head. Raekwon Pauldo, 21, is charged in his death.
“Just arguing over nothing and it went from 0 to 100,” Chatman said. “You have a college kid home from the weekend who lost his life from an argument that went south, no fighting, just shooting, that’s just terrible.”
An incident report says the shooting happened after 5 p.m. in the living room of a home at 1504 Azalea Drive. Smith and his friends were hanging out in the living room of the home when Smith and Pauldo began arguing. A woman inside the home heard a gunshot, and according to the report, she found Smith on the couch, shaking and covered in blood.
The woman told police two of Smiths friends, who weren’t named in the report, began dragging his body into the kitchen.
Chatman says the investigation into Smith’s death is ongoing.
This was the second reported homicide in Dublin, with the first occurring one day earlier when a 26-year-old was stabbed to death by a woman.
