Georgia Power to demolish coal hopper at Lake Sinclair power plant
MILLEDGEVILLE, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Georgia Power will demolish one of the last remaining structures at Plant Branch near Milledgeville this weekend.
The power company is using a controlled demolition to bring down the coal hopper on Saturday at 8 a.m. According to Georgia Power, police with close Highway 441 over Lake Sinclair right before the demolition.
Georgia Power retired the power plant in 2015. It served as a landmark overlooking Lake Sinclair for residents in Baldwin County and Putnam County for more than 40 years.
