Mentors Project reaches out to community for help dealing with gun violence
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) -In light of all of the gun violence that has happened in the Macon-Bibb community within the last few weeks, The Mentors Project is trying to help save lives.
They’re asking parents, students, and concerned community members to come out to the annual drug awareness program at Miller Magnet Middle school on Tuesday, October 24, 2017 to share ideas to help students make good choices.
“We want children to know that there are safe places to go in the community if they need help that there are people that will have they’re back. We want people who have illegal guns to get them off of the streets,” says June O’Neal who is with The Mentors Project.
The event starts at 5:30 p.m. This year’s theme is “Your Future is Key So Stay Drug Free.”
The program will have key speakers and an open forum to ask questions.
