Central Georgia Greek Festival celebrates Greek heritage

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The 9th annual Central Georgia Greek Festival kicked off Friday in downtown Macon.

It’s being held at the Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Church on First Street.

People can buy great tasting food.

There’s also music, art, jewelry and clothing.

The festival celebrates the Greek culture and raises thousands of dollars for area charities.

Event organizers say its festival the whole family can enjoy.

“Be a Greek for the weekend great food great fun great festivities, learn about the Greek culture and our heritage heritage and most importantly our faith,” said Natalia Saratsiotis.

Each year the three-day event raises about $11,000 to local charities.
