Johnson takes more hands-on role with Georgia Tech’s offense
ATLANTA (AP) – Georgia Tech’s fewest yards in a game under Paul Johnson convinced the coach to assume a more active role with the offense before this week’s game against No. 14 Miami.
The Yellow Jackets were held to only 124 yards in last week’s 24-7 loss to No. 5 Clemson.
Johnson says he is demanding answers from his players and assistants. He praised Clemson’s defense on Tuesday but said he saw far too many missed assignments in the loss he called a “train wreck.”
Johnson serves as offensive coordinator. The ninth-year coach calls the plays during games and takes the lead in constructing game plans. He says he normally gives his assistants more room to coach during practice, but this week he is taking a more hands-on role.
