Top Georgia officials meet to discuss military affairs at Museum of Aviation

ROBINS AIR FORCE BASE, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – 21st Century Partnership hosted a committee meeting on military affairs at the Museum of Aviation Wednesday.

Former Georgia U.S. Sen. Saxby Chambliss and former Gov. Sonny Perdue were among many former and current top government and military officials in attendance to discuss ways to strengthen the condition of Georgia’s military units.

It was the first meeting this year for the Georgia House Study Committee on Military Affairs.

“We’re fortunate to have former senator Saxby Chambliss and some retired generals and they’re gonna talk to us a little about what we can best do to help strengthen not only Robins Air Force Base but our military installations all across the state,” Rep. Shaw Blackmon said.

Georgia has the fifth largest military population in the country, with an economic impact of more than $20 billion each year.

Discussions were held today to improve Georgia’s military installations, expand economic development, and make sure the state remains a quality place to reside for veterans.
