Georgia Tech’s Roof: DE KeShun Freeman can be even better
ATLANTA (AP) – Defensive coordinator Ted Roof won’t say that any starting job is guaranteed heading into Georgia Tech’s spring scrimmage Saturday.
Roof likes what he’s seen from his base 4-3 scheme, but everyone, including junior end KeShun Freeman, still has plenty of prove.
Freeman, a two-year starter, has added muscle and improved his hand placement and footwork. Roof says he can get even better.
After a strong freshman season, Freeman fell off like the rest of the defense as the Jackets sunk to a 3-9 record, ranking 91st nationally in turnovers and 120th in sacks.
His sacks and tackles for a loss were less than half his production when Georgia Tech went 11-3 in 2014 and won the Orange Bowl.
Roof says it’s critical that the Jackets improve their pass rush.
