Today starts a warm-up in Middle Georgia, rain chances increase late this week
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The 60s yesterday were a refreshing change of pace, but now we increase temperatures to seasonable norms in the low 70s. It’s sunny again today with bone-dry humidity but sky-high pollen. Tomorrow, the highs get to the mid to upper 70s, and by Thursday night, I’m expecting a chance for rain and storms.
This precipitation is associated with a cold front that, honestly, won’t do much to our temperatures besides a small decrease. Most of the rain so far is expected Thursday night into Friday morning, so the timing is good as it won’t interfere significantly with daytime plans.
This weekend gets complicated. Models are wildly different in regards to an approaching low pressure system that could bring rain as early as Saturday night or as late as Sunday night. Right now, I’m leaning more toward a higher rain chance Easter Sunday.
And an early look into next week: the weather dries out by the next work week, and a possible wedge forms in the middle of the week, taking temperatures down around Wednesday. That could easily change this far out, but again, this part is more an early look and not an official forecast. I’m noticing a BIG cooldown and a lot of rain next week from long-range models. If that holds, we should be in store for an active weekend.
