Falcons re-sign free agent safety Charles Godfrey

ATLANTA (AP) – The Atlanta Falcons have re-signed safety Charles Godfrey, an unrestricted free agent who played in eight games in 2015.

Godfrey, a third-round pick by Carolina in 2008, started 75 games with the Panthers before signing with Atlanta as a free agent during the 2014 season.

The 30-year-old Godfrey had 12 tackles and forced a fumble with the Falcons last season. He played as a backup in each of his eight games.

He has 11 career interceptions in eight seasons, including a career-high five with Carolina in 2010.

Terms of the deal were not immediately available.
