Midway Hills Elementary hosts bike program for kindergarten students

Midway Hills Elementary is looking to teach kids how to lead healthier lives. CREATE is a non-profit designed to teach kids to ride bikes at an early age. Among this, they value physical activity as a way of leading a happier, healthier lifestyle.

Volunteer coach Edward Morrow talks about the nonprofit and the programs they offer.

“So, we help kids by offering a multitude of different activities, so primarily bike riding but we also have different tutoring programs, music programs, even anime camps for kids, so different social and physical activities to help kids gets out, get moving.”

The goal of the PE program is to have the kids able to ride bikes in 5 sessions. With the decline of children learning how to ride bikes, CREATE is hoping to introduce it back, saying it can benefit our national health.

“It helps a young rider overcome their fears. In life we always fall down, but a bike teaches us how to pick ourselves back up, get on the bike and just have fun.”

With the success of their program, it hopes to expand to other areas of Middle Georgia, inspiring the next generation of kids to spend more time outdoors. If you want to know more about the non-profit, you can visit createwithus.org to view the programs.
