Macon-Bibb EMA Director pushes severe weather preparedness

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Severe weather can strike at anytime in Middle Georgia, and you need to be ready. This is Severe Weather Preparedness week in Georgia.

Macon-Bibb EMA Director Spencer Hawkins says Severe Weather Preparedness week encourages you to have a plan.

The Macon-Bibb EMA Director says a tornado like the one yesterday near Savannah can happen here.

Have a NOAA radio that can warn you of approaching storms.

“You’re looking for an interior room without windows preferably as few doors as possible,” said Hawkins. “Bathrooms, closets always work well. You need to have a plan for both your home and your office.”

No one was injured in the tornado at Fort Stewart.
