More clouds today, rain enters tomorrow

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Tuesday features milder highs in the mid 60s despite the increased cloud cover in the area. The increase in clouds comes ahead of a cold front moving into northern Georgia today. It will not bring rain into Middle Georgia until the overnight hours, and that could be as early as midnight or 1am.

I don’t see much instability with this system, so storms aren’t an issue. As you can see from the rainfall estimates, this isn’t going to give us the same downpours as the system from last week. And with the system arriving overnight, the bulk of the moisture will leave by the late Wednesday morning, leaving us with mostly cloudy skies and only a few showers Wednesday afternoon.

On Thursday, the front will still be in Georgia, and a wave of moisture from the south will ride this front and move north, which could give us a few more showers Thursday but nothing significant.

By Friday, the sunshine returns and the temperatures start another warm-up. I have 60s for highs from Friday through Sunday, with upper 60s to close out the weekend.
