After a dry week, rain returns Friday

Middle Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – It hasn’t rained much this month, but Friday will change that in a pretty big way.

First, let’s talk about the effects of this upcoming system: clouds will increase in our area from the southwest today ahead of the Friday system. By the end of today, clouds will fill most of the sky. Same with tomorrow morning.

The forecasted high today is 62. Tomorrow morning’s low will be around 39.

Now for the rain: the latest models show rain pushing into the area from the south by late morning. It’s expected to last through the afternoon. Storms will be rare to nonexistent, so the main concern will be any heavy downpour in the area.

By Friday evening, the rain clears, though there will still be plenty of clouds floating around Middle Georgia. Saturday features dry weather, and Sunday looks drier and drier the closer we get. I only have a 20 percent chance of rain for your last day of the weekend, so the possibility of winter weather looks slimmer than yesterday. To editorialize a bit: boo!

Monday is MLK Day, and I’m expecting chillier and drier weather. High of 51.
