Heavy rain this morning, drier but still cloudy this afternoon
Widespread precipitation falls this morning as a Gulf system moves through the southeast. While storms won’t be much of an issue — the chance of one is minuscule — the rain will be heavy at times. Models show between half an inch to an inch of rain through 12pm/1pm.
Fortunately, the system’s mostly out of here this afternoon. The rain bothers the Carolinas by that point, leaving us with widespread cloud cover and maybe a few showers. The great news is the rain will be isolated and light, which isn’t much of a problem for your Friday evening plans.
We dry out tomorrow and are still watching that second Gulf system that will definitely bring rain to Florida but may or may not travel north enough to affect us. Therefore, I’ve only put a 20 percent chance of rain Sunday.
Sunnier and much chillier by MLK Day!
