Cool now, even colder tomorrow

Middle Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – January has felt great for those of you who love winter temperatures, and it’s about to get even colder. Today, our high will be around 54, and temperatures drop to the 30s this evening. Winds shift to the northeast and bring colder air into the area, which means 20s for lows tomorrow morning.

As far as highs go, I’m forecasting upper 40s the next two days. We’ll stay in the 20s Tuesday overnight into Wednesday and then warm the low temperatures to the 30s and 40s by the week’s end.

Models show rain possibly moving into the area as early as Thursday, but rain chances are higher on Friday. The total amount of rain doesn’t look that high — less than half of an inch.

What interests me more is the rain early next week around Sunday according to recent models. That looks coupled with a deep trough which would likely bring colder temperatures into the area. Stay tuned for details on that system and enjoy the current winter weather!
