Brrr, sub-freezing temperatures for two days

Middle Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – I think we need to do some comparisons. Lately, most of my comparisons have been how much warmer than average it’s been in Middle Georgia. Not this time.

Average high: 57
Average low: 35

Cool temperatures, right? Now here are the forecasted high today and the forecasted overnight low into tomorrow:

High: 46
Low: 21

Phew! Nothing record-breaking, but cold is cold. Highs remain in the 40s tomorrow.

Expect temperatures to moderate back to the 50s this Thursday, and then way warmer than average in the low 70s/upper 60s by the week’s end, with lows in the 40s.

As you’ll see from the bottom picture on the left, a batch of rain is expected to move into the area possibly as early as Thursday night. Otherwise, rain chances increase a bit Friday, though the amount of rain looks pretty small. Then another batch of rain — again, mostly light — arrives as early as Saturday night. Otherwise, Sunday will be the day for some showers.

That second batch of rain will precede another big cooldown in the area, with long-range models showing a deep trough that’s going to dig into the southeast for an extended period of time. We could be in for chilly weather all of next week, but we’ll have to see how the models hold up.
