Construction begins on Filmore Thomas Park
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Shovels went into the dirt and Macon residents celebrated as construction began on the Filmore Thomas Park.
The addition will bring new sidewalks, a pedestrian bridge, realigned intersections, house demolition and a brand new park to the Log Cabin Road area.
The park is being funded by $1,700,000 from a voter-approved SPLOST. It will include a pavilion, a playground, basketball courts, a splash pad, and trails.
District 9 Commissioner Al Tilman says, “The Bellevue Neighborhood has been dreaming of this park for 30 years, and our promise as a consolidated Macon-Bibb County was to finally make that dream their reality.”
