Bibb Sheriff’s Office awarded grant to help pay for body cameras
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is getting some help paying for its body cameras.
The U.S. Department of Justice is giving more than $66,000 to Macon-Bibb County. About $30,000 of it will go toward buying body cameras for the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office. Sheriff David Davis estimated the total cost to be more than $200,000.
“This has been a long process and it’s something that the officers are looking forward to. I think the public is looking forward to us having them. This little bit of money will certainly go a long way toward achieving that goal,” said Sheriff Davis.
Sheriff Davis said deputies will start wearing body cameras next week to test one of the possible vendors. He hopes to have them ready by the beginning of next year.
