High humidity and rain chances today and tomorrow

Middle Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A southwest flow continues to move moisture into the southeast today. Overcast skies continue today with the sun possibly peaking out a few times. Showers are possible this morning, though they’ll become more frequent this afternoon. I anticipate showers and storms to be more widespread late in the afternoon and into the early evening, so from 5 – 7.

Severe weather won’t be a huge concern today. An isolated severe storm with high wind gusts is possible, but that kind of weather won’t be frequent.

Humidity, however, will be very high with all the moisture we’re getting from the southwest. With dew points easily over 70 degrees, expect sky-high humidity, so the heat index will be high. Of course, if you get heavy rain, that’ll cause temperatures to plummet, so you won’t have to worry about a high heat index if that happens in your town. Otherwise, it’ll be steamy, regrettably.

The southwest flow continues through Thursday. Right now, I’ve lowered the chance of rain this weekend to 30 percent. Still a moderate chance for rain, and the humidity doesn’t look to subside.
