Centerville Police officers to get new patrol SUV’s

CENTERVILLE, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Centerville Police Department wants to get new patrol cars. The city has budgeted the money for the new police vehicles, but it’s not a done deal.

Officers will soon have brand new Chevrolet Tahoes, that is after the city council approves the purchase of the 13 SUV’s. The vehicles are scheduled to arrive sometime in August.

The department’s three year lease is expiring and the city is planning to purchase the new patrol fleet for nearly $500,000.

“They get a little more wear and tear than the average personal vehicle due to the fact these cars are running seven days a week,” says Lt. Phillip Pritchett.

Centerville City Council will vote on next year’s proposed budget on June 16. The budget will include the money for the police department’s new vehicles.
