UPDATE: Highland Avenue shooting victim dies, charges upgraded to murder
Bibb deputies arrested 38-year-old Andre Lucas for shooting 55-year-old William Ford in the neck. Ford died Sunday. An autopsy is scheduled for Monday.
Lucas’ charges have been upgraded from aggravated assault to murder. The warrant was signed and served Monday at 12:30 p.m. Lucas is in the Bibb County jail without bond
The Bibb Sheriff’s Office and members of the Southeastern Fugitive Task Force arrested a suspect wanted in connection to Sunday night’s shooting on Highland Avenue.
Deputies charged 38-year-old Andre Lucas is charged with aggravated assault and aggravated battery. He’s booked in the Bibb County jail without bond.
While interviewing Lucas, investigators learned he had an untreated gunshot wound to his right hand. Authorities believe he was injured during the shooting.
According to 41NBC’s past reporting, 55-year-old William Ford and a female friend were sitting inside a car parked in front of a home on Highland Avenue around 10:30 p.m. Sunday.
Investigators say Lucas walked up to the car and asked for a cigarette. Ford said they didn’t smoke and Lucas walked away. The sheriff’s office says Lucas came back, argued with Ford, and then shot him in the neck.
Ford was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Bibb deputies are looking for the person who shot a Macon man in the neck Saturday night.
It happened around 10:30 p.m. on Highland Avenue. Investigators say 55-year-old William Ford was in his car when someone walked up to it and asked for a cigarette.
Ford said he didn’t smoke and the man walked away before coming back and shooting Ford in the neck. Ford was taken to the hospital and is in critical condition.
